About

The journey

The Newton Espresso lever-press coffee maker started as an idea between a designer and engineer a generation apart - one old school, one new school. The best of both worlds. The name ‘Newton’ is a nod to the engineering and principles that underpins the coffee machine.

Driven by the quest to save money at the local cafe, the idea was simple - to design and craft a minimalist espresso machine for the home or studio that consistently produces barista-quality espresso. The design had to be durable, simple, clean and functional. We had our work cut out for us, but the results were well worth the effort.

Newton's manual design centres around the ritualised coffee making process. In our opinion, drinking coffee is only half of the enjoyment - crafting the coffee is the other. The ceremony of grinding the beans, warming the machine, heating the cup and controlling the pressure to create the perfect espresso makes the final result so much better!

Your Newton is proudly crafted and assembled in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. We love the fact that coffee brings people together, and we're chuffed every time we send a Newton out the door knowing it's off to a good home.
